Brings back memories of my jazz combo days in Tuscaloosa, AL. I wonder how many combo gigs I played over the course of those 5 1/2 years. I knew almost nothing about jazz after graduating high school. I could swing (drums) which is a must. I learned the rest by playing those gigs. The? horn players played from the Big Book & if I didn't know the tune they would just tell me what style & what tempo. After a few gigs they didn't have to tell me anything except the song title. Real music education!

@detectmendacity there's this double bassist called Richard Sadler who plays in a trio I saw somewhere sometime blah blah blah doesn't matter- but the point is there's a great bass and vocals version. Or at least I really like it and? I hope you do too. myspace com/rmsadler only place I've ever seen it. Back in '07 when people still used the thing and it's still there :)

Jazz is a very independent? art form, its all about enriching your own life and its really a form of meditation for the player, the audience is along for the ride and the moment you start thinking about impressing anyone in the audience is when you start sounding like total shit.

I agree and disagree. I agree with you when you say it's pure sound, talent and? just relaxing in so many ways but when you say it does not focus on show offs.....I have come across many Jazz musicians that show off and even pursue a career in Jazz the the sole sake of showing off. Hopefully you have encountered this but if your as enriched into the music scene as some of these guys out there, I'm sure you will. Keep listening.

The best advice i've ever heard about jazz is that you can't ask it to be something it's not. I come from a very pop/rock up bringing, and i used to listen to things wanting to hear a verse, chorus, bridge type of structure, or tension and resolution. As soon as I stopped asking it to be that way, I started hearing? things i really liked, that, and it's ok to like some things and not others.

I just started listening to Jazz. God its so good. It's very different from most other music genres. It is focused so much on sound and not that much on show offs and appearance like many other genres like disco and pop. It's pure sound, talent and just relaxing in so? many ways.

Why the fuck would anyone relate this song to Coldplay ? Yes, Coldplay have used Radiohead as an influence but the only influence came from The Bends and OK Computer and was used in Parachutes and perhaps parts of ROBTTH. Radiohead is so unique post OKC, that its almost virtually impossible? to imitate their music. If you want to look for a Radiohead rip-off, look no further than Muse. I remember when Kazaa was real big and I downloaded this movie from there and watched it. It is pretty bad but I think it's a film every comic book fan should watch anyway. I didn't think the new ones were that bad though. Not my favorite Marvel movies but not bad. Well the second one was kinda lame but I really? liked the first one. Except how they portrayed Doom. I think that could've been way better.
