In fact,''The Shining'' was released on 23 May 1980,so it should have been filmed or on the last months of 1979,or maybe early 1980,perhaps,I think,due to? the filming locations as the Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire,England,and Montana,Oregon & California in U.S.A. It'll all become clear once you read the book....when Jack Torrence goes into the bar and imagines the party with Mr Grady, he sees a man dressed in a dog suit with the bald guy who was actually the owner of the Overlook at the time. In the book the guy's name is Roger, King puts a really creepy description of him in that almost to suggest that Roger isn't wearing the suit for comic relief but is trapped in the Dog the suit Symbolically he seems to be, he's essentially the clown of the party where people spill drinks on him and laugh at him, and on the side he's used as a male prostitute for the guests.
