It's just another version of something rotation randomly, like the cube in one of my videos. This one is cool because I am working all the time using quaternions. The animation doesn't show much of a difference, but what we do at each iteration is considering both the current and the previous readings. Perhaps a better animation might come later... Video duration: 16 seconds This video demonstrates one possible model to perform mapping and localization using a Kalman Filter. Here we are working directly with the distance estimates. As the camera moves, the uncertainty on its position grows, and that is reflected on the uncertainty on the objects positions. Video duration: 80 seconds This is like my previous video, but with a bad sensor. It's easy to see how the relative precision of the sensor model impacts the estimate quality. Not only the uncertainty is larger in general, but the direction of the correlation is orthogonal to the other case, where it points towards the center, and not along the track.
