Yes, golauncher runs on top of ROMs. Not sure about the contacts, although chances are you won't lose them with a good root. It's still a good idea to back them? up anyways.

I found one problem after i rooted my HTC Wildfire; When I should connect to a wireless network my phone allmost didn't find none wireless? networks. It is variable, but it finds two to three networks, but not my own network, and on the networks it finds, it shows that it is a very bad signal although it is actually a really good signal... And I don't know what do do! Can someone please help me? :)

Cyanogenmod 7 is unstable on the HTC Inspire 4G, I have tried 7.0.2, 7.0.3, 7.1.0 all final releases and the GPS does not work, it works for 3 minutes and then stops working and doesn't find my location again, so no Navigation.? Also the notification light doesn't know how to act, it just blinks in a random ass pattern, hard to explain, and the battery life is not very good, I am using Leedroid and have none of these problems, however I removed Sense and all that to be more like Cyanogenmod lol

I have a Motorola Defy (originally with MotoBlur). It came with Eclair which was o.k. Then Froyo came out as an OTA update and it improved Android in many areas. Then, I decided to do CM7? and it is AMAZING! It took a day or two to figure out how to do the mod but I can't believe I didn't do it sooner. Its fast, no bloatware, better on battery, less buggy, frees up memory and all while looking better and giving WAY more options. CyanogenMod for President! :)

How about making one yourself, and presenting it to cyanogen? Like others has said, cyanogen does not have time and the resources to deal with every little issue. Its the whole community support that gets this Aftermarket Rom running. If your turned off, then uninstall the stock launcher and get something else, its not like rooting your? phone places more restriction. Just saying.

hey pal, i am also a desire cm7 user and had not encountered ur? problems yet... probably because you had used a modified rom. u could download them at official cyanogenmod website. try updating ur cm to a stable 7.1 as u are using nightly builds which is unstable.

Thanks! We actually like the direction of AOKP, reminds us of what CM was before we got 'big'. It also helps that you guys test out more of the 'extreme' features, and then Romann sends em back upstream to us. It's a good relationship between the two ROMs, and personally, I would like to see? more people doing it.

I am 100% sure that the CyanogenMod Team did this because of Google's choice of not supporting Google Wallet on rooted devices. I am very thankful that the CyanogenMod has the skill and know-how to make customizations like this. Too bad I unrooted my Gnex just to spend all the money on my Google Prepaid? Yep. App market and sound both work great. ? I loaded my touchpad up with Android apps. Games work surprisingly well! What's still broken is the microphone, cameras, and video acceleration, so while Youtube works fine, "Youtube HD" (720p and 1080p videos) do not work yet. You need to click the "HD" button on Youtube videos to turn "HD" off.

yep its on its way. may be a couple weeks off (CyanogenMod never gives ETAs) but i'd expect to have all the features of CM7 and more withing a month or? so at most. They eventually want this to be a fully functional tablet that acts like it was built to run android. But so far this is great progress seeing as my less than a year old HTC thunderbolt may never get ICS and this HP wasnt even designed to run Android.

CyanogenMod only works on rooted phones. some permissions make sense for? certain apps and it makes perfect sense. this is more for people who want to block something not because of viruses but because of privacy. Google prevents malware from making it into the Android Market (most of the time) so this is just for cases when you want to use an app but don't want to let it access certain things about you or your phone.

I think it's the fact that the extent that these permissions are required for that is not elaborated on is what bothers people. We might end up overreacting to an app that just? wants to have access to your phone call status to pause the game while you take the call for example. Well, I discovered Firerat's Apps2ext script, so that's not as much of an issue for me anymore, since I can use my apps again =D (All 1GB of them >.>) Also, CM6 runs fine on my G1,? no swap. It's all in the settings, I guess. Try experimenting to find something that works. (I've actually been running the nightlies for quite a while... didn't even stay on stable for more than a few days ^.^)
