well, 500w might? not be enough for some good graffic cards, on the card i ordered it says it's required with atleast 550w powersupply( i got a 650w powersuply) so if your gonna get highend cards id recomend more then 500w tbh.

almost forgot.you will need at least a 400w power supply to power most medium and high level cards. make sure you know what your power? supply is. although the power supply problem can be worked around sometimes if you have enough amps on the 12 volt rail(which really matters)it's still safe to get the 400w psu to make sure you have enough headroom. if your gong to upgrade to a better card though you might need a 450w or even a 500w. make sure to Google the power supply requirements for your card

don't listen to them you really only need 2gb of ram for that game. i know because i've played it. you cpu is fine although athlon doesn't have an L3 cach. its your graphics that's weak it does have a shader model 3.0 but doesn't have direct x 10 capability and if it's the what im looking at your running onbaord graphics which means you don't even have a graphics card. make sure your motherboard has a pcie x16 slot then get a card. i? recomend the GTX550 ti, it gives you good bang for buck.

I recommend that you just buy or build a new system, This card will NOT fit by any means,? and it doesnt include a low profile bracket, because that would be stupid. Also, a PC as old as that won't even have PCIe, only AGP, which you can rarely find cards for that even perform close to modern budget cards.

I have the Sapphire HD 5570, the DDR5 one, which also supports ATI CrossFireX. It's overclocked and does well, but I'm planning to save money for a? better one. 200 is problematic...diskeeper can't close that fast and an error pops up saying c++ runtime error which in fact prolongs the shutdown time much more than it was supposed to make it less. i recommend to all who use diskeeper to put a 2000 value,so that the problem won't happen. overally,you've been helping me? with my job on computers.god bless you pcwizkid :)

Don't worry, modular power supplies come with all the cables you need. However if you're missing anything just go to the store and return it. One more thing be careful? what size case you get. The cables are standard length but some cases are too big and you might end up short. In that case get an extender or a longer cable separately.

Hmm, ok cool thank! I was thinking about upgrading to surround sound next summer. I picked up a set of Turtle Beach's the other day (DPX21) and they've got built in surround sound, but I think I'll hold off. Sound cards are expensive lol. I may do that with an HDMI. I made? sure my monitor supports that and I'm pretty sure my gfx card does too (Probably getting Sapphire Radeon 6970). Anyway, thank you for the reply, I really appreciate all of them like this.

Well, from my calculations, not a lot. $50-$60 isn't much to get a decent graphics card for gaming. You might be? able to get an ATI HD 5570 - which is actually a pretty decent card. You'll be able to play most games on that with low or medium graphics on a not-too-large screen. You'll also have no trouble watching hi-res movies and stuff. My little brother needed a basic card, and I gave him one of those and he's happily playing Fallout 3 as I'm typing. That's my recommendation

I personally don't use a sound card. Unless you're doing music/sound mixing or you want absurd 3D surround sound, or you're just a snob with sound stuff, what you get with your motherboard is usually fine. I actually do a lot of sound mixing for music and games, and I've never needed a sound card. If you want surround sound for? gaming, too, I'd recommend (if your monitor and graphics card support this) using HDMI to your monitor and using the monitor's audio output

Hey thank you for the reply! I might end up ordering this around october possibly, I think I might hold off until? the new cpu's come out, that sounds awesome. You don't think my current motherboard would support it though? I was really liking that motherboard I picked out lol. I think I've found a good case. Also that other guy was saying I don't need a soundcard, do you agree with that? Any input on my build is greatly appreciated, I've just been winging it on my own so far. Ty.

Yeah that to I bougth Hipper 500 watt.I though finally i had good one but no ...Restarts And i used a? old chassi with a additional powersupply( the old ps) with this old one I powered the videocard and Hipper powered the rest + I got 1 connection going from to the videocard also-It worked a year -then Hipper got so hot you could make a omelett on it and i had to buy a new PS.)

yes that is true the static is most asuridly the deathnall of electronics. It seems that I go through power supplys like you go through hard drives On my gaming machine I have used 3 power supply in two years. And they weren't the Cheops eatiher The current one is a corsair 1000 watt? and even that one is giving me trouble The 12 volt is way under powered. Like 11.83 The computer works but it likes to randomly turn off and I have to bump the wires sometimes to get the machine to tun on

Makes? since as the hard drive is nothing but iron files on a platter A magnet would cause those files to became miss allied I what I was getting at more then anything is i use a magnetic screw driver to screw down the mother board and it doesn't seem to effect the bios or any path ways on the board. While i am not saying you are wrong it just seems there is way over kill here about anti-magnetic and anti-static stuff Just me two cents

It very often depends on the game. Games like GTA IV are very CPU dependant, an i7 with a 4890 would perform very well comapred to my system a Phenom II 940 and a 4890 which performs reasonably well. A game that requires large amounts of texture data will benefit nearly completely from a good graphics? card. Many games are like this. I would still advise getting a reasonable CPUto go with teh graphics card sicne GPU are easily replaceable relative to CPUs.

@SuperTechkid In the United States, it's an average of about ten cents per kilowatt every hour. Assuming your even using 1KW an hour constantly, a tenth of a dollar an hour equals 2.4 dollars every day. So, in perspective on an average month, lets? say 30 days, your paying 72 dollars, or every year 876.57 dollars to run that power supply constantly at 1KW; thankfully you average only 200-800 depending on what your doing.

None, both are good, the difference is (in my opinion and short experience) that intel is most of the time one little step ahead but at very expensive prices, and AMD has great processors at affordable prices (meaning that for the same money you can get? a better AMD than an intel, or that comparing two same performance CPUs the AMD will be always cheaper). The difference is very subtle when it comes to applying thermal paste. The degree differences are usually a few degrees. When your CPU fan is running at? full 100% during full load, it's usually time to reapply your thermal paste, as they do dry over time.

did everything you said, doesnt work. total recorder is a sound recording tool, that lets you record computer sounds. i needed to record a internet stream urgently, so i used that program, but i uninstalled it right after that. is definitely the sound card. because i had warranty (thank god), i already asked for a new motherboard. but i'll probably need the total rec sometime, now im afraid to install it. dont? ask why ive uninstalled it...do you know some other software like that?

So yeah try plugging in a headset or speaker, update drivers, go to the site of the manufacture if u can and find drivers. People say to use a pea size and let the pressure of the CPU cooler basically spread the paste, but that doesnt always mean its the best contact. If you spread a thin layer on the entire CPU (like I do) then put the CPU cooler on? it the chances of more contact on the cooler is greater and you will dissipate more heat. Sometimes I even put a bit of thermal paste in the base of the CPU cooler when there are gaps with the heat pipes on the base.

I have a question about thermal paste procedure; I applied a Arctic Silver 5 on my AMD PH? II X4 965 BE (140W) I went to Arctic Silver's site to check on the guide and it says squeez a pea size paste on the middle of the CPU so the paste will be squeezed creating a circle like paste covering the CPU in the middle. I did that. And my idle temps is 34 on air (Noctua U12P SE 2) but when I spread the paste I get about 28-30. I dont understand. Thanks in advance, PCWiz.

lol first off the linksys router is most likely "PnP" which means? you just plug it in and it works. if not there will be a setup disc that came with it...theyre made to be extremely simple to setup, even for "computer illiterate" people. second, you'll have to be more specific about what you mean with the webpages. it could be any number of things, the monitor, the contrast of the browser (or how the browser is setup to view pages)

unless your are playing a multi core rending game like GTA IV and i believe supreme commander. but upgrade the GPU for now since you will get the most performance. Usually it won't make the biggest difference for CPU. If you got a dual? pci-e motherboard use the 9800GTX for physx and the 5770 for regular gaming.

@doodleracing, Cool and Quiet mode (when? enabled in the BIOS) will allow the power saving features of the CPU to kick in. It will idel consuming less power and without running all the 4 cores for example if they are not required, however cool and quiet will interfere with overclocking and also if you are planning on running the CPU at its fullest potential its best to disable it.

You are a frickin life saver!!! Thanks a ton for this video. I love linux but man is it hard to find help on the net for it if you are a newbie. i have watched a bunch of videos suggesting everything but this. I tried other programs and solutions such as xvidcap and istanbul. I tried using camstudio (great for windows only) by installing it with wine. all crap. VNC capture works but this is the best.
