I have swype on my phone but I dont use it because it sucks. I'm not? sure if its just my phone or if I'm too retarded, but it never spells the correct words I want. So I just hunt and peck all the tiny buttons. I have a Droid Optimus Net btw. I find it much faster to type with a physical qwerty keyboard like my last 2 phones instead of an on screen or virtual qwerty keyboard.

It is faster, but it takes some time to get used to it. Also, it is much more comfortable (especially in public transport or when you are texting while driving). Of course, it is not magic - somebody who is trained to write with common keyboard will always beat somebody who is not trained to write with swype, but ones you will learn how to use it? intuitively, you can write without looking on the phone, which is pretty pleasant with touchscreen phones.

Swype is SLOWER! I mean it, I had an iPhone and all my friends who used Android told me how cool swype was, but I didn't like it and I can type? extremely fast with iOS' keyboard. Now I bought a Gnex, and I also use the stock keyboard! Swype IS SLOW! Oh, and although I like Android, the iPad is still the best tablet out there. Android tablets suck compared to it. @ThatLonelyLoner he goes slow becuase he is very new at it. i have been using swype for a month now and can easily outtype all of my friends with their iphones. not to mention swype? is FAR better at predicting now, remember, this video is almost 3 years old. swype has a slight learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, its the fastest way to type.

It's cool the first time you use it, until you realize that it has no system to learn your writing patterns or use the patterns of the English language. It constantly gets words? wrong. The wrong your/you're or too/to. Confusing out/put/our/it. I would love to type a message and not have to go back and fix something JUST ONCE! Letters are too close together and too many words have the same swipe paths. It's awful. I downloaded Swift Key X yesterday and it's freaking awesome. GOODBYE SWYPE.

I have this on my Android and it is FAR? faster and way more accurate than typing. I've raced friends and family to enter phrases on our phones and its never a contest. Then when they try Swype on my phone, they realize they're one MAJOR step back in phone technology. So if you don't see the advantage, you've not tried it. They person in the video is going slowly so you can see exactly what they're doing. Nice part is, it takes 30 secs to learn and you'll never go back to tapping.

Not really. Voice to text is? simple. The only major "technical" issue is the user. Complex algorithms can learn people's accents, mispronunciations, etc. due to learning.

I like Swype a lot but the fact that you can't use the native android voice dictation software is? a deal breaker for me. Plus it is kinda ugly. Don't get me wrong, I love Swype but on ICS it sort of classes down the whole experience due to its lack of UI polish.

Granted, my iphone 4 (Jailbreak 4.3.4) and ipad2 (JB 5.0.1) ran moderately smooth when left in its uninspiring, unchanged 2008 layout. But the moment I personalized it w/ custom cydia live wallpapers, launchers, lockers, sms, etc., the iDevice simply couldn't handle it. Even when I reverted back to its original layout, I would still have to respring often to show missing app icons, and would still occasionally freeze, despite removing all? of my cydia apps. *Shrugs*

Im not sure what youre? installing to have it crash (: Funny thing is i have an ipad 2 that has been jailbroken since the day absinth came out, and ive never had an issue. literally. ive never had it pause/freeze/lag/crash/respring/had to do a hard reset. nothing. ever. Compare that to a stock android and its another story. and ill take the iphones ultrasmooth scrolling and rendering over any other phones.

What I also liked about Android is it's root friendliness, and the majority of the rooted apps are already available in the android market. I now see how frustrating it is to customize my iphone through cydia when rooting is extremely simplified. I too had my doubts about going back to android (owned 4g mytouch) due to lags, slowdowns, camera, and resolutions. But the S2? changed my perception. If the iphone5 steps their game up, I might return back to apple, but for now, S2>4s

Odd, my S2 average 11 mbps download speed, whereas my my iphone 4 was averaging 1.5 mbps on network speed. S2 was also faster on Wifi. S2 is using more RAMS due to running live wallpaper & widgets, even when all apps? killed. Memory Management? I prefer true multitasking on S2 in opposed to 4/s's pseudomultitasking which simply pauses a task when switching apps. I do use bluetooth transfer. I also like the capability of BT syncing my PS3 remote to my S2 to play most of my games.

Like I stated earlier, Samsung built a winner when they produced the S2 & Nexus. No lag (Except when I run a very high fps live wallpaper). Retina Display has amazing natural definition, but I prefer the ultra eye popping vivid contrast of the Super Amoled "Plus" screen that that the Retina can't match. Both has their Pros & Cons. I transitioned from? a JB iphone 4 and currently own a 5.0.1. JB iPad2. I've experienced constant crashes, so please don't lie about "Never" crashes

My Jailbroken iPhone 4 is faster than my friends Galaxy S2. His crashes all the time and he has to reset it. And my phone always has more free RAM than his even with all of his apps killed. Apples memory management is years ahead of Androids. Open source doesnt mean jack unless? you do your own builds, and even then Phone companies dont take the time to do things right. bluetooth file transfer. lol who uses bluetooth anyway and yes my iphone can do that too.

Apple? has always had a nack for ripping off other designs and calling it "new and revolutionary" but it sounds like you think android invented those things. I dont mind the smaller iPhone screen at all. Androids crappy pentile displays dont even come close to apples retina screens. Plus find an android that isnt laggy, slow, or crashes frequently. You can use two hands but you would have to switch off between words, not during. The object is to type a word without lifting your finger. Lifting your finger registers the last strokes as a word. One downside is sticky and/or wet fingers. I have this same phone (Omnia II)? and it can be a little frustrating to Swype after washing my hands as the screen tends to not want to let your finger slide as easily as you would want.

after using this on the mytouch, i can say that it is more useful when you're trying to text with one hand in portrait mode. it's been nearly flawless when used that way. really handy when you're multitasking and you don't need to be? super accurate for it to know what u wanna say. landscape i prefer the regular keyboard

You wouldn't use this if you had an actual keyboard... this is good for touchscreen phones... I've tried it and it is day and night... the predictive algorithm is superb. It doesn't work as well on 2 letter words (ie "it " get? confused for "out" alot), but the longer the word, the more flawless it gets (which makes sense).

Wow ok I don't like and have never used t9 (I hate the lag when it won't spell the right word). This just looks like a novelty thing instead of actually useful. I think at best it would be useful on a touch device with a crappy touch keyboard, but I'm sure if you spell it wrong or hit the wrong letter your screwed. Swype has to be slower anyway. Why have a Qwerty and do this. I type faster on my Pre than I can type (and I do IT so both are fast.) Just looks like a gimmick that won't ketch on.?

I don't know about other programs, but playing HD games, like Angry Birds or other games that actually look nice, consume your battery pretty quick. I can play Angry Birds like max. 6 - 7 hours straight, and the battery will be pretty much dead after that. I think the reason you'd go N8 over android or iphone is battery life and connectivity. Nokia in general have pretty decent power management. Much better than most other smartphones. Plus the wide range of bandwidths offered on the N8. Its basically a true worldphone. Not as smooth or simple as other? OS's for sure, but if you can get past the lack of bling factor, symbians not bad. N97 aside as they were crap for sure.

Unfortunately with the 2.2 update that came out a few months ago, they changed the theme of the keyboard. You can, however, search online on how to mod your keyboard theme, just google "droid x keyboard theme" and you can find instructions on how to change the themes on your keyboard. It is up to you though, if you want to do it since it requires some tampering with your phone that? you might not feel comfortable doing.

I got the LG optimus one which is basically the unlock version and different trim, but similar specs. I prefer the plastic, I have an otterbox case for it, but I don't know how many times I dropped the phone. Even with the case, if it was an iphone,It'd probably crack and it would be a costly repair. Right now I have the LG Xenon and I'm thinking about switching to either the LG eXpo or the Samsung Captivate. What one would be better for texting and getting apps?
